Do tennis rackets ever go bad?

November 2nd, 2009 | by admin |

I’m not refering to the strings but the frame itself.Does the graphite and various composites that make up the frame, deterorate after awhile? After 2-3 years, does a racket become ‘dead’ regardless of the strings….?

YES!! Racquets after a few years (2/3) do go bad regardless of how well you treat them–often the player won’t notice as the process is gradual. The head will become less stiff as tiny fractures will form–especially if you are a hard hitter. TENNIS magazine recommends replacing a racquet every 2 or 3 years for this reason…

to be honest, i dont think so. but the handle would though. so eventually u’ll need to replace the handle cos the rubber will start peeling..

If you break the racket, not the string, it won’t work anymore. Any other time you would need a new racket is if you don’t hit well with the one you have or you aren’t comfortable anymore with it. Also if you get older you don’t need the small handle anymore.
