How are ACT composites figured out?

ACTstudent.org really didn’t explain. Like if I get a 30/40 on Science, is that a 27 composite ( 27/36 = 30/40 ). So if I get a 54 / 60 on math that’d be a 32.

54/60 doesn’t guarantee any score, nor does 30/40. It’s all based on a curve of how all students who take the test do. For example, if many people score highly on one particular science portion, 30/40 might get you only a 24 or 25; if few people do well, it might push 29 or 30. So really, it all depends on how everyone else does in comparison to you.

One note: Adding your subscores (algebra and geometry, for math) will NOT get you your composite score for that section (I got "18" in both math subsections, and still only got a 35)

To find your overall composite, just average your composites in your 4 categories (English, reading, science, math).
