How do you clean a white composite sink that has become yellowy brown from tea and food staining?

Help we have a white composite sink in this house and it’s looking horrible. The maker just says don’t use bleach and advises ‘Astonish’ paste plus elbow grease – it hasn’t helped. Any ideas?

Baking soda and vinegar made into a paste might do it

Personally i’d use jif or cif as it’s now known with a soft cloth if that didn’t help witht the tannin stains i’d use a drop of hydrogen peroxide or ammonia.

hot water and baking powder is meant to work.. leave them together for about 3 mins them scrub. when thats done clean it out, get an old newspaper (2-4 days old) and rub the inside of the sink.
or you can use bleach but it stinks the room out xx

Unless you are planning to have it replaced under guarantee I would just bleach it. You could try biological washing powder – put some on a scouring sponge with a little water and rub – or leave a solution in the sink – it works on tea pots. This issue is finding something that works as you will be doing this a lot!! Dishwasher powder would do it too – but that is because it has a bleach in – with washing powder it is the enzymes doing the work.

I don’t know if this will work for your sink or not. But for mugs that have become discolored with coffee and tea stains, I use baking soda.

    Good luck!

    Hi there.,
I myself would use bleach, put the plug into the sink and pour some bleach into it, wow watch the stains disappear, but please be careful and I mean very careful with the bleach, after a while put some water in before you try to empty the sink.

We have had a composite resin sink for 20 years and every couple of weeks we leave a couple of inches of water with a scoop of biological powder to soak overnight, it works like magic.

I love to use The Bar Keepers Friend scouring powder for cleaning my stainless steel sinks and it is also great cleaning many other items including brass and copper. You can also mix baking soda with the scouring powder and ammonia. Scrub and let it sit on the sinks for a while to pull the stains out. After it does its job then rinse and wipe dry. I hope this will help you.
