		<description>Composite materials are made up of at least 2 different materials, with one serving as the matrix and one serving as the reinforcement. There are many different types: polymer matrix composite (MMC), metal matrix composite (PMC), fiber reinforced polymers (FRP), etc. 

Some examples are fiberglass in polymer, carbon fiber in polymer, plywood, natural wood, bone, tungsten carbide with cobalt matrix (for drill bits).

Metal alloys are not composites. Although alloys may exist in more than one phase, no distinct material boundaries can be seen beyond the particle level.
