Trex composite decking?

I was hoping to get some feedback from someone who has had Trex or some other brand of composite decking for more than a few years.

They say that it will last for 25 years or more without splitting or getting less attractive, but a friend of mine says that the product actually DOES deteriorate, and get unpleasant.

We are thinking about putting in a new deck, and want something safe that won’t deteriorate terribly quickly.

Anyone out there have any experience? Especially in a harsh climate where there is a lot of snow, and harsh sunlight. (We live at 10,000 ft in Colorado – weather is pretty harsh on the materials, here).

THANKS!

I don’t have it but I have installed it a few times. Looks good, easy to install. I don’t see how it could be worse than any of your other options. UV will beat it to hell at that altitude, but it will do that with anything else you choose. Don’t forget to gap it so that water can drain out between the boards, it won’t shrink and open up the gaps like wood products will. Unless you want to install…I dunno, textured titanium or something, I don’t see anything better.
