have you used veranda composite decking?

We saw this veranda composite decking at Home Depot. We want to use it. could you tell us if you had any problems with it’s performance such as durability, fading, scratching, cracking, etc. Was installation easy? What fasteners did you use.? Any problems with fasteners? Would you recommend using composite decking or not? Thanks for your answer.

I can’t speak personally about the veranda brand, but I can tell you about what I have learned first hand about composite decking. First, it is much heavier that wood and the deck needs to be built accordingly, they also soak up the sun and feel hot to the touch making it less comfortable than wood. Over the years the manufacturers come and go due to issues with the product, Trex, one of the few manufacturers that have demonstrated some longevity has changed their formula and construction requirements many times over the years.

I am not so sure that any of the manufacturers have fully figured out how to make composites live up to the hype. You may want to take a look at this article I found about veranda and the home depot;
