composite decking brands?
November 29th, 2009 | by admin |I plan on building a deck this spring and want to use composite decking. I’ve heard some cheapbrands might twist and cup. What is the best brand to use? Timbertek, Trex or any other brands????
Timbertek looks nice. Weatherbest isnt bad either, but I liked timbertek the best.
Personally, I think the best look is the composite decking in the redish color with cedar rails and skirting.
When you make the whole thing plastic, it looks like a giant play pen.
Also, I hope you have help doing this because working with the composite decking is a royal pain in the a**.
It’s 1000x’s heavier and it takes a 1000x’s longer to put it down because of screwing it all.
Also, the decking, you dont have to pre-drill the holes. You can just put the screw right in. While it leaves a "mushroom" head when you do it, if you hit them with a hammer and after you get some traffic walking around on the deck, they go away and you cant see them.
But on the skiritng and rails you have to countersink all the screws.
EDIT- The stuff expands and contracts too with the weather, so when you put it up make sure it’s tight, other wise that little gap is going to get huge when it gets hot.
Also make sure to gap the boards, otherwise each little bend is going to show.

well they will bend but once you screw them down they will not move. they bend because they are made that way so you can make a curved design in your deck…just let me say that when they say it doesnt get hot…HUH!…yeah they do and trex will fade ALOT! i dont knoe if the other one fades.
