What products could I make from fiberglass to sell.?
Hi,

I want to make composite (fiberglass, kevlar, carbon fiber) products as a hobby, I’d like to make things at home and sell them and make a small profit but I cant decide what to make. Any ideas on what to make?

    Surfboards canoes bows(as in archery) and if your going with kevlar try body armour

    Make surfboards- If you’re really good at airbrushing that would be a plus.

    You should start with simple shapes like skis or skateboard decks. As you get more experienced at sculpting and sanding molds into complex shapes, and laying up the fabric on those shapes, you could try more complicated things.

    You’ll need vacuum bagging equipment for curing the composites, and some pretty expensive hard foam for the molds. You can expect to spent several hundred to several thousand dollars for each mold, so make sure you sculpt it into a shape you can use over and over.

    Remember that if you want something to be strong and stiff in bending, while still being light, you’ll need a foam or honeycomb core with symmetric fiberglass sheets on both sides.

    Also, be sure to take the proper safety precautions. Always wear gloves and a surgical mask when working with the fibers or epoxy, and work in a well-ventilated area.
